Welham Boys’ School is known for its public speaking ethos. The debating and the MUNing team has carved a niche for itself in both the national and the international circuits. Welham Boys’ School Model United Nations Conference or WELMUN as it is popularly known as, has grown into one of the most popular high school conferences in the country. The school hosted the pilot conference last year and after the resounding success has not only resolutely decided to replicate the same but to outdo it. Considering the sentience attached to the conference it is idealistic to define the conference in terms of what it is. What it is not,is a mere conference with various UN committee simulations, a couple of crises and awards.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Diplomacy and Discourse”. Diplomacy and discourse are often intertwined. Considering that the number of conflicts, in today’s world has risen considerably, it is our responsibility to act. Now, be it in the international arena or the domestic one, it is imperative that we try curbing not the effects of this problem but the problem itself. The most comprehensive method of doing so is through diplomacy supplemented by a common platform for discourse. Therefore it is necessary that we come together and work towards the greater good of humanity.
